Some 800 volunteers from the mid-valley are expected to wield paint rollers and shovels Saturday to give two Albany schools a makeover.Sunrise and Lafayette elementaries will get a new coat of paint and landscape work, thanks to a project coordinated by Serve In the Name of Christ. The organization was formed out of Willamette Celebration, a Mike Silva production last July that brought several mainstream Christian bands to Albany.
The board of Serve INC is mostly made up of the former Willamette Celebration board. It has support from 29 churches.
So far, 650 people have signed up to volunteer Saturday and another 150 are expected to show up that day.
